    MapTiler Geocoding – release 2.15.22

    This report provides a snapshot of our Geocoding services. We regularly update the indexes to integrate the latest data and introduce new search features.

    Main changes

    • Database growth: The global database expanded by 284k features, including 238k new POIs, 20k new addresses, 11k new places, and 2k new roads. This provides more comprehensive and up-to-date search results for users worldwide.

    • Bilingual names in Spain and Italy: Places and streets whose names combine two language variants with a slash, for example Pamplona/Iruña, could appear more than once because the source data is inconsistent about variant order and spacing. This has been addressed, and a search for either variant now returns a single result.

    • Duplicate place records in the United Kingdom: A single place could be returned as two competing records, for example Glasgow alongside Glasgow City. This has been addressed, and affected places now return one result with a more specific place type instead of a generic locality label.

    • Placeholder names in address data: Placeholder values indicating undefined or unknown values were treated as real place names. It cleans up address search mainly in the United States.

    Global and regional changes

    • Global: Full data refresh using OpenStreetMap updates from 2026-07-26, together with database improvements.

    • Place and address improvements:

      • Spain and Italy: Bilingual names separated by a slash return a single result for either variant (for example finding Pamplona/Iruña when entered as Pamplona / Iruña or Iruña/Pamplona).
      • United Kingdom: Places previously returned twice now return one result with a more specific place type (for example a single result for Glasgow instead of separate records for the city and Glasgow City).
      • United States: Placeholder address names such as unknown, unincorporated, and unassigned no longer appear in results.
