Free satellite imagery on-premise
This article describes how to run free satellite imagery of the entire world from your server or laptop.
First, you have to download and install MapTiler Server.
When MapTiler Server is already running on your machine, download the free satellite dataset (zoom levels 0-5).
More datasets with higher resolution and even aerial imagery with resolution up to 7cm/pixel are available.
Once you have the satellite dataset on your computer, Drag&drop it into the MapTiler Server folder, and it will automatically appear among your Tilesets.
Now you can either directly use it in your web & mobile apps or desktop GIS software.
You can also create a mosaic and add street data to the satellite for easy orientation.
