How to manage MapTiler Engine licenses in MapTiler Cloud
This document will show how to manage Engine License Keys and explain their administration from your MapTiler Cloud account.
As with any other MapTiler service, the Engineapp can be used with a basic Free license. After installation, the advanced functions can be unlocked with an activation key (only the Pro version of the Engine app has a different installer).
One EngineLicense Key can be used to unlock one instance of Engine app at a time, for use on a single machine.
Obtaining and Activating a Key
MapTiler Engine activation keys can be purchased online with a credit card. In the case of Pro License, there is the possibility to pay via a quote & invoice, instead of via card.
After buying any MapTiler Engine license, the License Key will be sent to the email address associated with your account. The process of activating the Engine app with your Key is described on our support page. This is the only way how to activate your Engine app.
Purchased keys can also be added to the MapTiler Cloud Engine administration page, and be partially managed from there.
The MapTiler Cloud administration page can be used to see and deactivate keys, but cannot be used to activate licenses. This must be done directly in the Engine app, on the machine where the application will be used.
Key Deactivation
As one key can be activated in a single Engine app at a time, it is necessary to deactivate the key on a machine before activating the application again on the new machine. This is done in the Engine app and the process is described on our support page.
In case of an emergency (i.e. deleted virtual system) it’s possible to deactivate any key on the MapTiler Cloud Engine administration page in account settings. This can be done only twice per year.
