How to control expenses in your user account
How to avoid unexpected expensive invoices for the usage of online maps for your business, and how to set your limit in the billing information of MapTiler Cloud.
Your expenses under your control
When using a map API, have you ever received a higher invoice than you were expecting at the end of the month? Have you been able to find information about how to solve this problem without having to read many manuals, and articles, or even having to make a phone call to receive a response?
I used to work for a very well-known international mapping company and a recurring question from clients used to be about how to limit the usage of requests. Many of them had no control over the account, and quite often, they had to pay hundreds of Euros for the use of the APIs.
If you want to avoid this problem in the future, I invite you to use MapTiler Cloud, a solution that in addition to providing thousands of free credits, allows you to create usage limits to avoid any type of unwanted expenses.
How to create an account with MapTiler?
- Go to MapTiler Cloud maps
- Here you can create a Free account.
Upgrade to Flex or Unlimited to use the usage limit
Once you are subscribed, you can create a usage limit by following these steps:
- Go to MapTiler Cloud settings.
- Click on the “Set spending limit” button.
- Set your limit of spending (how much you can spend extra each month,
above your monthly subscription) and click “Enabled.” - Click “Save”.
Before you reach the monthly limit, you will receive an email with a warning. When you reach the limit, the API will be deactivated and will not make any more requests until the beginning of the following month, which is the next billing period.
