Edit vector data (points, lines, polygons)
To display custom shapes in your maps, you may need to define some vector features, that is: points, lines, or polygons. Then you can add these geometries to your maps and show them for example as custom markers, trails, or highlighted areas.
Our online Vector data editor makes it easy to either import and edit your existing vector datasets, or create new ones from scratch.
Upload existing dataset
You can import your data in GeoJSON, GPX, KML, or Shapefile (ZIP) formats, with a maximum file size of 5 MB or up to 5,000 features. (If your data is larger than that, you’ll need to upload it via the tiling service instead.)
- Go to Data and click on New dataset.
- Drag and drop your file onto the screen, or browse your computer to upload it.
- After a successful upload, you’ll see details and a preview of your vector features. Click on Edit dataset to open the vector data editor.
In the vector data editor, you can adjust or move individual features, edit their properties, create new geometries, or merge multiple datasets together.
Create new dataset
To start creating your geometries from scratch, open the editor with a blank dataset.
