Manipulating and filtering open files

The biggest strength of MapTiler Engine is processing large amounts of input files, which may lead you to situations where file-manipulation and filtering files become useful. In this article, you will learn how to easily manipulate files in your input list (in the standard view and filtered view).

Standard view

Within the default view of the file list you can either manipulate with a single file or with multiple files at once. To add more files to the selection, simply hold the Ctrl key while selecting additional files. Files can be selected from the list or from the map (in the “Footprint” map mode). By adding files to the selection, your right-hand details panel will allow you to perform changes to all selected files at once.

Filtered view

In MapTiler Engine 13.0, we have added the filtered-view option to the file list, which will be very useful if you need to see, edit, remove only files that match specific criteria.

To use the filter, simply type the search string into the search box and click the magnifier button. Your list will switch to the filtered-view mode, which can be easily identified by the number of displayed files out of the number of all files, shown in the header of the list. In this view, you can perform the same operations as in the standard view - such as editing specific file details or remove unwanted files.

The data fields available for filtering include:

  • FilenameEnter the exact full file name (excluding the path) with or without the file extension.
  • File details
Enter coordinates (EPSG, “Unknown” or “no srs” for files with unknown coordinate system), geolocation, or bands data (applicable for raster files) exactly as they appear in the details under the file name.

In both cases, you need to enter a single value only as a complete string (just like it is displayed in the list, including spaces, dash, … e.g. “Unknown - Custom”). Wildcard characters or multiple input values are not supported.

Shortcuts

For faster navigation, the list also supports some keyboard shortcuts that can speed up your work:

  • Upand Down buttons for moving around files (in one file step)
  • Ctrl+A for selecting all files (in the filtered view, it will only select the files currently visible in the list, allowing you, for example, to easily remove all files that match specific criteria)
  • Shift+A for unselecting all selected files
  • Del for deleting (either single or multiple files)
