You’re here: 👉 Install MapTiler Server > Deploy sample maps > Preview and test the maps

To try out MapTiler Server, install it on your personal computer. (This is not suitable for real-life production usage, but it’s fine for testing and playing around. We’ll get to the actual production setup at the end of this tutorial.)

  1. Download the installer. Go to the Server download page and get the installation package for your operating system. It’s completely free, we only ask for your name and e-mail.

MapTiler Server has low hardware requirements and can run on virtually any platform, but if you want to be sure that everything works smoothly, check the technical specification to verify that your operating system and CPU architecture are officially supported and tested.
  2. Install and run MapTiler Server. On Windows it’s fairly straightforward, the installation wizard walks you through all steps. On macOS and Linux, you may need more information to complete the process successfully. If needed, go to the detailed installation guide for your platform:

During the process, you either set up your own administrator password, or you get an auto-generated one. Make sure to note it down, you'll need it.
  3. Sign in to MapTiler Server. Go to http://localhost:3650/admin/ and use your new admin password to sign in.
