MapTiler Data

MapTiler Data offers a variety of datasets, including the 2021 Satellite Layer and the Terrain Data  (Contour lines, Hillshade, and RGB Terrain or Cesium quantized mesh for rendering maps in 3D).
We update our data very frequently, especially the OSM Vectors, which are updated every two weeks.

MapTiler also offers premium datasets like MapTiler Planet and Cadastre. MapTiler Planet is by default available only in the Custom Plan, and both datasets are sold separately as add-ons. 

MapTiler Server

To serve beautiful maps for your use case, you will need designated software. That’s why, with each MapTiler Data subscription, we included a MapTiler Server license.

The software has many great features, such as an intuitive UI and easy integration of external data sources, compared with the difficult-to-set-up open-source options. MapTiler Server can run completely offline and works natively in Windows, Linux, MacOS, and Docker.

You can use MapTiler Server’s Admin API to manage hosted maps from the command line and also provide static maps from your own server with the Static Maps API.

There is also the ability to integrate dynamic data from PostGIS/ PostgreSQL with MapTiler Server. This allows you to add custom live data from a PostgreSQL database directly onto the base map in just a few clicks.

If your deployment requires more than one instance of MapTiler Server, there is an option to purchase extra licenses and have more than one instance running at the same time.

Available Data packages

There are three options available for subscribers. Each of them is described below, with more information on the pricing page. Think about your use case when choosing the right license, or contact the MapTiler Sales team to discuss which option is best for you.

Each subscription covers a different type of use on a different scale but also includes different datasets and features.

MapTiler On-Prem Free (Free of charge)

  • License: Developer-License (R&D, Customer Demos)with a maximum of 100 monthly active users.
  • Datasets: OSM Vectors, 2016 Medium-Resolution Imagery

MapTiler On-Prem Standard ($2,500/year)

  • Permitted use: Developer-License (R&D, Customer Demos) + Production-License for single application (internal use only) with a maximum of 500 monthly active users.
  • Datasets: OSM Vectors, 2021 Medium-Resolution Imagery, MapTiler Planet Lite, Terrain RGB, Contour lines, Hillshading
  • Additional features: Team account, Auto-update script

MapTiler On-Prem Custom (Annual contract)

  • Permitted use: Developer-License (R&D, Customer Demos) + Production-License(s) (internal, B2C, B2B, or government) with a custom number of applications and monthly active users.
  • Datasets: Free Package Datasets + Standard Package Datasets + MapTiler Planet, Cesium 3D Terrain + Optional Add-Ons (Countries, Outdoor, High-Resolution Terrain, High-Resolution Imagery, etc.)
  • Additional features: Geocoding, Offline activation in Docker and Virtual Machine (VM)

MapTiler Cloud alternative

If your application is web-based, then an easier-to-use and more scalable solution is MapTiler Cloud. With MapTiler Cloud you get access to all our best data out-of-the-box and can use advanced features like our Customize Tool, GeoCoding, GeoLocation, and much more.

One of the clear benefits of MapTiler Cloud is easy access to premium layers, from MapTiler Planet to high-resolution satellite imagery. MapTiler Planet includes 150GB of data that is not part of the OpenStreetMaps-based layer, offers vandalism protection on place names and borders, and has landcover integrated to produce a beautiful map experience.
