# Upload existing data

If you already have a vector dataset, for example from a GPS tracking device, you can get started by uploading that dataset for editing.

Tip

Do you want to add your data to an existing file rather than creating a new file? See how to [import your data](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/vector-data-editor/add-vector-data/#import).

Uploading any common format is supported, but you can check the [formats and size limits](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/adding-data/upload-formats-and-limits/#supported-editable-vector-features-formats) to be sure. If your vector data file is too large, you’ll need to process it into a [vector tileset](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/adding-data/#use-vector-tileset).

1. Go to the [**Data** page](https://cloud.maptiler.com/data/) in your MapTiler account and click **New dataset**.

2. Drag and drop your file onto the screen, or browse your computer. After a successful upload, you’ll see the details and preview of your vector features.

3. Click on **Edit dataset** to open your file in the vector editor.

Now you can [modify your features](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/vector-data-editor/modify-vector-data/) or [add new ones](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/vector-data-editor/add-vector-data/).
