# Free satellite imagery on-premise

This article describes how to run free satellite imagery of the entire world from your server or laptop.  
First, you have to [download](https://www.maptiler.com/server/download/) and [install](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/on-prem/server/) [MapTiler Server](https://www.maptiler.com/server/).   
When MapTiler Server is already running on your machine, [download the free satellite dataset](https://data.maptiler.com/server/) (zoom levels 0-5).

More **[datasets with higher resolution](https://www.maptiler.com/data/package/)** and even aerial imagery with resolution up to 7cm/pixel are available.  

Once you have the satellite dataset on your computer, [Drag&drop](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/self-hosting/map-server/how-to-add-and-host-data-in-maptiler-server) it into the MapTiler Server folder, and it will automatically appear among your Tilesets. 

Now you can either directly use it in your web & mobile apps or desktop GIS software.

You can also create a mosaic and add street data to the satellite for easy orientation.
