# Install MapTiler Server

This section contains information how to set up and and run [MapTiler Server](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/on-prem/server/) on various platforms and operating systems.

## System requirements

MapTiler Server has low hardware requirements and can run on virtually any platform. If you want to be sure that everything works smoothly, check the [technical specification](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/self-hosting/map-server/maptiler-server-technical-specification/) to see if your operating system and CPU architecture are officially supported and tested.

## Quick start

Looking just for basic guidance? Here’s the fast track to a default installation:

1. [Download the installation package](https://www.maptiler.com/server/download/) and run it.
2. During installation, you set an **admin password** or get an auto-generated one. Copy it.
3. Open the admin interface at `http://localhost:3650/admin`.
4. Use your new admin password to log in.
5. Proceed to [deploy sample maps](https://docs.maptiler.com/guides/on-prem/server/getting-started/).

If you need more info or want to _customize_ your Server setup, see a detailed guide for your operating system (below).
